White Peony oil painting by Alexandra Kopp

The flowers are long gone but this is one of the beautiful peonies that bloomed
in June in our flower garden.  White Peony is available in my ETSY shop and
is the third in as series of large flower blossom paintings that are all done
on a 6x6x1 inch gallery wrapped canvas.

Thank you for viewing my artwork.

SITTING PRETTY, plein air painting

The warm weather is finally here
and it is time to get out side and do some plein air painting.
SITTING PRETTY is a plein air oil painting
done in Havre de Grace, Maryland at the waterfront.
It was a beautiful calm day, slightly overcast.
The birds were totally enjoying it.

I love the challenge of painting outdoors, still being a novice,
each time it is a learning experience.
Our spring has been quite rainy,
so the sunny painting days are far and few between.

Sun or clouds, it is always a good day when I get a chance to paint plein air.

This painting is available in my ETSY shop, Alexandras Studio

SUMMER MEADOW oil pastel

SUMMER MEADOW is a 5x7 oil pastel done plein air.
The oil pastels are very easy to take when traveling.
I like working with them on location.
Oil pastels are fun to work with because you can mix
a variety of media with them to create different effects.
I am working on a series of small plein air oil pastels.
 This is number two.
It is available in my Etsy shop.

Assateague Marshes oil pastel

This is a new medium for me that I have been trying out, oil pastels.
They are similar to regular pastels but do not have the dust that is created by regular pastels.
 I like the layering and blending and they are so easy to travel with;
although I think they would not do well in high heat.
I think I will keep experimenting with them.
This little painting is done with oil pastel and is available in my ETSY shop
