They grow wild along the highways and fields in summer and bloom in July and August and the lady bugs love their bright yellow leaves. You know summer has arrived when you see the Black Eyed Susan flowers.

It is a New Year and time for a new beginning. It is exciting to start on some new painting adventures.

I am enjoying doing these small artworks, they are great to sit on a table or bookcase, and they help me decide if I want to paint the subject in a larger format.

SUSHI EBI and SALMON ROLL

It is said that you should paint what you love so that is the inspiration for my sushi paintings. Besides tasting very good. The presentation of sushi is an art in itself.

These are the first two paintings in my series of THE ART OF SUSHI paintings.

PINK ART for the CURE Challenge 1

I have finally finished my first challenge 47 abstract painting.

After three attempts,I was able tofocus and this is what I accomplished.

I admire abstract painters for their imagination and vision.

Hopefully, as I continue in this challenge

I will be able to develop my own abstract style.

Challenge 47 first works

I started my first painting, and it ended in the trash. My second painting had less than desirable results so I covered it over and now I am starting over again. I realized like realism paining I need an inspiration idea; so the best place to get inspired is viewing the art of some of our great abstract painters. I decided to base my first painting on the works of Wolf Kahn. He is such a master of color. I should have my first piece finished by the end of the week. I admit; I am a slow painter, hopefully this project will get me on a faster painting track. I think my first piece will turn out and I dedicate it to breast cancer awareness.

Club 47

I have recently joined a group of talented artists on the web through CFAI for the Club 47 challenge. The purpose is to challenge yourself to do something you for yourself and at the same time help others. My challenge will be to do "47 abstract art projects" and sell them for $47 donating 4.70 to charity for cancer research. My father, mother in law, and father in law all have died of cancers from leukemia to lymphoma. This is also a personal challenge for me to step out of my artistic comfort zone. I have never done abstract art but have always admired it. Join me on my journey and help those who battle cancer along the way.

My first project is in the works and should be posted in a few days.

We just returned from a wonderful trip to Italy. We started in Rome, went to Tuscany and ended in Venice. The days were filled with inspiring scenes from nature, art, and architecture. The food was wonderful and the shopping great!

WATERLILIES

This is a 6x8 oil painting that I did of waterlilies that I was inspired to paint by Monet's waterliles.

I experimented with iridescent oil paints.

All of the light reflective areas were done using the iridescent paint.

It gave the painting a three demensional quality.
